Portland Theater Festival Presents: Sanctuary City

  • The Hill Arts 76 Congress Street Portland, ME, 04101 United States (map)

$25 Adv

In a small American city reeling from the aftermath of 9/11, two teenagers who were brought to America as children seek refuge in each other from the harsh environment around them. When G becomes naturalized, she and B hatch a plan to marry so that he may legally remain in the country and pursue the future of his dreams. But as time hurtles on and complications mount, the young friends find that this act challenges and fractures the closest relationship either has ever had.

The Hill Arts and the Portland Theater Festival are excited to be collaborating partners for the 2023 Festival! Founded in 2021 by East Shore Arts and Mayo Street Arts, Portland Theater Festival (PTF) introduces an annual summer season of diverse, inclusive, and exceptional professional theater to the City of Portland. Locally staffed and incubated, PTF offers cutting-edge performances in intimate and found spaces with the aim of promoting a more mindful, more compassionate, and more harmonized community in Maine. Sanctuary City is written by Martyna Majok.
