About The Hill Arts
Can you see what we see? From here, things are looking great!
And here, at the top of Munjoy Hill, we’re creating a new place for performance that’s perfect, unique, and desperately needed. Just what Portland’s dynamic arts community deserves.
While the shows go on at our existing Parish Hall Theater, home for over twenty three years of live theater, music, comedy, and important community programs like Our Place for neighborhood kids, we’re getting ready to build a breathtaking new 400 seat theater complex that will provide perfect spaces for our more than twenty creative partners, neighborhood folks, national touring shows and acts, and a lot more.
Fundraising is well underway for this comprehensive facility that will join harmoniously with the existing Parish Hall and the neighborhood, filling the empty lot left when the original St. Lawrence Church was sadly demolished after years of structural decline.
We’re working hard on green and workable transportation and parking solutions and have the support of our neighbors, Portland’s creative community, and the city. Our design is breathtaking and state of the art, with room to expand upon two important initiatives, a creative center for kids and an non-profit incubator to support up-and-coming creative groups.

“There is more exciting dance and theater Ovations would love to bring to Portland but cannot because there is not an intimate venue with all of the amenities to support it. We eagerly look to The Hill Arts to help fill that void.”
